Caravan club sites in Worcestershire

Worcestershire is underrated as a touring base and very well placed. The M5 and M42 put Birmingham, the Cotswolds, the Welsh border and the Shropshire hills within an hour, and the county itself gives you the Malverns, the Severn Valley and the orchards of the Vale of Evesham.

Where the sites are

The Malvern Hills group is the main one, with sites on the eastern and western flanks near Malvern Wells and Colwall. A second cluster sits in the north around Bewdley and the Wyre Forest, close to the Severn Valley Railway. The Vale of Evesham near Pershore and Broadway holds a third, and it is the best jumping-off point for the southern Cotswolds without paying Cotswold prices.

Getting there

The M5 runs the length of the county — Junction 5 for Droitwich, Junction 7 for Worcester, Junction 8 for the M50 and the Malverns. The A449 from Kidderminster to Worcester is dual for much of its length. The A44 east to Evesham and the A46 towards Stratford are straightforward single carriageway.

Local notes

The Malvern Hills are steeper than the map suggests. The B4232 Jubilee Drive along the western flank is narrow with tight parking laybys and is no place for an outfit; approach Malvern from the A449 or the B4211 through Upton instead. The Wyche Cutting is similarly pinched.

Bewdley and Upton upon Severn both sit low on the river and flood regularly between November and March. If you are touring out of season, check river levels before committing to a riverside pitch, and note that the roads into Upton close when the Severn is up.

Most sites open late March to the end of October. The Royal Three Counties Show in June and the Malvern spring and autumn garden shows fill local pitches, so book around them.
