FÍB was founded in 1932 and is a non-profit, non-governmental motoring association and Iceland's FIA member. It provides roadside assistance including towing, battery, tyre and fuel call-outs, plus legal and technical advisory services. It has published the FÍB blaðið member magazine since 1951 and offers discounts at shops, garages, inspection stations and fuel stations. It issues international driving permits and camping and CCI cards, and is listed by FICC as Iceland's card-issuing organisation.
