Club sites that accept dogs. Both national clubs allow them on the large majority of their sites without a per-dog charge, which is a saving against commercial parks charging three to five pounds a night. Dogs must be on a lead of no more than two metres anywhere on site and cannot be left unattended in a caravan or awning.

Towing note · Bealach na Bà to Applecross is signed against caravans — take the A896 via Shieldaig. Fuel stations north and west of Ullapool are 30 to 50 miles apart and often shut by early evening, so refuel at every opportunity.

Bunree Club Campsite

A 99-pitch all-hardstanding site at Onich on the shore of Loch Linnhe, about 10 miles from Fort William. Many pitches sit close to the water with views across the loch to the surrounding hills. Glencoe and Ben Nevis are both within easy driving distance.

Culloden Moor Club Campsite

An 87-pitch site at Newlands, Culloden Moor, about 1.5 miles from Culloden Battlefield and six miles from Inverness. Mature trees give shelter and there are views over the Nairn Valley. Loch Ness and the Speyside whisky trail are within driving distance.

Dunnet Bay Club Campsite

A 56-pitch site at Dunnet on the north Caithness coast, overlooking the sands of Dunnet Bay. Dunnet Head, the northernmost point of mainland Britain, is a short drive away. Thurso and the Orkney ferry at Scrabster are nearby.

Kinlochewe Club Campsite

A 61-pitch site at Kinlochewe in Wester Ross, at the foot of Beinn Eighe and close to Loch Maree. Fifty-six pitches are hardstanding. The Beinn Eighe National Nature Reserve is about three-quarters of a mile away.

Morvich Club Campsite

An 88-pitch site at Inverinate on the wooded valley floor near the head of Loch Duich, surrounded by hills in a National Scenic Area. Most of the surrounding land is managed by the National Trust for Scotland. Eilean Donan Castle and the road to Skye are close by.
